John Boffa
President
President and CEO of Woodward Communications, John Boffa has 25 years of experience in public relations, marketing, and project management. As the president of Woodward Communications, John has oversight over all projects and staff members assigned to projects. In this capacity, he has gained wide and deep insights into many transportation programs at the Federal and State levels. He has spoken on marketing transportation research at the Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting and has been intimately involved in the branding of many transportation projects and programs. John started his career as a newspaper reporter, was a magazine editor, and served as a transportation policy analyst and speech writer to a prominent governor. He holds memberships in the Public Relations Society of America and the National Press Club.

Albert Faragalla
Chief Financial Officer
Albert Faragalla is Woodward’s chief financial officer. Albert is a certified public accountant with 25 years of experience advising businesses of all sizes on financial matters. Albert also has extensive experience in the Federal government contracting arena and is qualified to audit companies holding Federal government contracts. He holds an M.B.A from Pittsburgh State University.

Leigh Sauter
Director of Operations
Leigh Sauter has 7 years experience managing all aspects of editorial and event projects and 13 years experience in technical editing and production management for a variety of publications. She serves as manager on all editorial, marketing, Web, video, and meeting projects. Leigh’s responsibilities include project management, financial management, technical editing, progress reporting, budget management, client relations, and staff supervision. Her project management and editorial experience includes conducting FHWA’s congestion pricing workshops, providing publishing and logistical support to FHWA’s Exploratory Advanced Research Program, supporting FHWA in the development of user-friendly technical resources to advance and market congestion pricing (including the development of a series of seven congestion pricing primers), and providing outreach services to brand and market FHWA’s Innovative Program Delivery Office. Leigh collaborates with FHWA COTRs, COTMs, and upper management on a regular basis and is the point person for all questions or issues. Leigh is familiar with the GPO Style Manual, the FHWA Communications Reference Guide, Section-508 publication guidelines, and government printing procedures.

Mark Fitzgerald
TFHRC Senior Communications Writer
Mark Fitzgerald has a strong background in writing and editing and a wide range of experience in public affairs and corporate communications. For over a decade, he has developed and produced strategic content related to transportation, technology, and infrastructure for audiences in government, industry, academia, and nonprofit organizations. As an on-site writer at the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA’s) Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center, he interacts regularly with team leaders, managers, and researchers at work in more than two dozen laboratories. His recent articles have covered research focused on light-weight high-performance concrete, a reference manual that offers guidance to assist the practicing engineer with the application of design specifications for skewed and horizontally curved steel bridges, and a collaborative agreement between FHWA and the Forum of European National Highway Research Laboratories. Well-versed with the GPO Style Manual, the FHWA Communications Reference Guide, Section-508 publication guidelines, and government printing procedures, Mark also edits content for FHWA’s Web sites and Public Roads magazine, as well as a variety of communication products, including summary reports, technical briefs, fact sheets, and brochures.

Tom Morton
Senior Writer/Marketer and Task Leader
Tom Morton brings a variety of writing and marketing experience to the Woodward Communications team. He is involved in the production of reports, case studies, brochures, presentations, and additional marketing materials for the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) Exploratory Advanced Research (EAR) Program, the Department of Transportation’s Office of Innovative Program Delivery, and other clients. He also researches and writes regular articles for Focus, a monthly FHWA newsletter. Recent projects include a series of EAR Program fact sheets and technical reports focusing on a selection of long-term, high-risk research projects conducted in collaboration with academic and industry partners. Tom’s work on FHWA and other projects involves frequent collaboration with FHWA staff, industry partners, and technical and academic contacts. He is familiar with the GPO Style Manual, the FHWA Communications Reference Guide, Section-508 publication guidelines, and government printing procedures.

Jeff Osanka
Marketing Specialist
Jeff Osanka is Woodward’s marketing specialist. He has 10 years of experience constructing and implementing focus groups, analyzing and branding new programs, and advising on new social media techniques for public outreach.
Jeff was a senior communications advisor in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services from 2003 to 2007. He holds a Ph.D. in rhetoric and communication from the University of Oregon.

Lisa Pope
Senior Writer and Task Leader
Lisa Pope has more than 15 years of experience as a writer and editor. She writes, edits, and manages the design and production of the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) monthly Focus newsletter, which covers innovations in transportation infrastructure. Focus is distributed to more than 11,000 engineers and transportation professionals worldwide. She also edits and manages design and production of the Transportation Research Board’s Legal Research Digests and multi-volume Selected Studies in Transportation Law. Recent additional projects include researching and writing FHWA’s Telling the R&T Story report, writing articles under FHWA’s byline for the “Innovations” column in Roads & Bridges, and developing a new brochure on multisector asset management. Her work on Focus and other FHWA projects involves regular collaboration with staff across FHWA, as well as State, industry, and academic partners.

Stacey Anderson assists Woodward staff in a whole host of different publication-related responsibilities, including editing and proofreading documents and maintaining the subscription database for the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) monthly newsletter Focus, which is distributed to over 11,000 professionals worldwide. Susan Yoder
Senior Editor and Task Leader
Susan Yoder brings more than 20 years of experience writing and editing scientific, technical, and general documents to our team. Most recently, she has edited several research reports and written several fact sheets for the Federal Highway Administration, U.S. Department of Transportation. She has edited and managed the production of conference proceedings for five international concrete research meetings, managed the production of exhibits, and written brochures. Susan has worked with research and program staff for Woodward clients for more than a decade on a wide range of print and electronic projects intended for technical, policymaking, and lay audiences. She is proficient in several styles (Associated Press, American Psychological Association, Chicago, U.S. Government Printing Office, Transportation Research Board) and is familiar with government printing procedures.
