Technological Innovations in Transportation for People With Disabilities
The Federal Highway Administration’s Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center hired Woodward to manage a one-day conference to explore new technological advances to assist visually impaired pedestrians.
A panel of speakers discussed existing and developing tools, methods and concepts that assist pedestrians and travellers with visual impairments and other disabilities. Groups that were represented included the Federal Highway Administration, the Federal Transit Administration, IntelliDrive Safety, Carnegie Mellon University, Virginia Tech, Smith-Kline Eye Institute, the University of Arizona and Oregon State University.
